Today my baby is ONE!

One year ago today, we were heading to hospital to have our sweet little boy! I remember feeling happiness, relief (because it was almost over and our last one), and joy! The picture may not look that way though. I was feeling really ready to have this little boy!
Hunter Bruce Turley -- weighing 7 lbs. 7 oz. -- 21 inches long
Everything's going to be A-okay, Mom!
My favorite spot to take naps!
My sweet boy!
Born with gummy fangs!
The only child to get Bruce's brown eyes! Love them!
So bloomin' cute!
I'll let you put in your own caption here!
Lookin' good in brown -- it matches his eyes!
The gummy fangs are now growing teeth!
Fun tidbits of info:
  • about ready to start walking
  • pulls himself up to standing and walks along furniture
  • loves, loves, loves strawberries -- can't get enough of them
  • fast crawler, and is beginning to get into everything
  • adores his sisters and has fun pulling their hair
  • becoming a daddy's boy -- I love it -- cried every morning when Bruce left for work -- the only way I found to calm him was to have him watch Bruce leave out the window
  • wants Daddy to put him to bed at night -- Best buddies!

Inspiration

My niece Brittany made this cute wall quilt, which was the inspiration for the kitchen paint color. I just love the bright fun colors together. Sometime I want to make a valance for the kitchen windows with a fabric similar to these. Sooo cute!

Brittany inspired this creation through an idea from my sister. It was made for my mom for Mother's Day from me and my sisters.

In turn, that inspired this cute quilt for my sister's upcoming baby Andie Jean. I think it's just about the cutest thing I've ever done! This is just a sneak peek. After the baby shower on Saturday, I'll take pictures of the quilt (done by me and my mom), the valance, and the bedskirt. Oh, so cute!!!! I love how the fabrics go together.

The funny thing about this is I used to hate quilting! I mean disliked it to the core! I think the dislike came from having to hand stitch quilt my older's siblings wedding quilts. No fun for a teenager. I love piecing it together and seeing something beautiful come from it. So much fun! Can't wait to do another one!

What a little bit of Classical Music can do for a kid!

This week for Music Day, I just played one of my favorite classical CD's. I just wanted to see what the girls would do. As the music was playing, I explained to Sarah that way back when, the people would dance to this music.

She said, "Even princes and princesses?"
"Of course," I replied.

About 10 to 15 minutes later this is what we got -- 3 girls, dressed up as "princesses", and dancing all over the family room. So cute!
Breanna's pose
Sarah loves the camera!
Cheese!
Mr. Cuteness is still teething. The two bottom teeth finally came in so he doesn't have his HUGE lone top tooth anymore. The other TOP tooth is trying to make it's way through. It's a grueling, lack of sleep for the mom process! Can't wait til he's finished! He'll have two massive top teeth and two cute tiny teeth on the bottom. He's still TOTALLY cute -- with curls of course!

Our budding artists!

This summer I thought I'd try something new. Each day is a fun activity.

Monday is Music Day -- where we learn about a classical composer and listen to some of his music. This week we learned about Frederic Chopin. Breanna loved his music because the song we listened to reminded her of ballet. Sarah didn't like it at all.

Tuesday is Art Day -- we learn about an artist and then do an activity from what we learned. Yesterday we talked about Claude Monet and Impressionism. Then we painted our pictures.
Here's Sarah & her picture

Breanna & her picture

I thought they did a pretty good job.

Wednesday is Fun Day -- Sarah & Breanna went their friends houses, so I could get some sewing done during nap time. After I picked them up we got $.79 cent cones at McDonald's and I let them run around.

Thursday is Craft Day -- I'm not sure what we're doing yet, but I'll be sure to post pictures. Maybe we'll make some jewelry or something crafty!

Friday is Library Day -- a fun little trip to the library is all. Sarah doesn't have her class on Fridays, so we go with our sticker-filled card to get fun little toys from participating in the library reading program. Then we will do something fun at night. That can include -- movie night (you've seen that in a previous blog I'm sure), Fiddlesticks (we have so many coins left from a previous visit), swimming, having friends over, etc. Just a fun night.

I feel like I mainly want to do this to help my kids have fun memories of their childhood. It's all about the kids, RIGHT!!!
